Abstract

By comparison with the F102 calculated by AaD02 and a/APO2 based on arterial blood gas analysis in 63 open heart patients ventilating MA-1 Bennett volume ventilator with FIO2 1.0, the following results were gained.
(1) PaO02 by a/A PO2 was much closer to the expected PaO2 than by AaDO2
(2) F1IO2 by AaDO2 was much higher than by a/A PO2
(3) AaDO2 and a/A PO2 had most signifiant correlationship at F1O2 1.0 0(Y=671.9-671.5x, r2=0.996, P(4) After changes of F1O2 calculated by a/A PO2, no one patient showed hypoxemia Considering the above results, for the control of F1O2 during mechanical ventilation, a/A P02 is safer, more acurate and benificial than AaDO2 in calculation of F1O2 for desired Pa02.
